Applied Materials

Elik-tronics is subcontractor for Applied Materials, one of the leading engineering companies in the field of semiconductors with operations world-wide. Applied Materials are specialists in the precise modification at the atomic level, and at bringing the technology to industrial scaling. As such the company delivers solutions for the manufacture of integrated semiconductor chips, displays and solar panels. Applied Materials is at the forefront of innovation with its equipment, services and software to help its customers get to market sooner and create the most value from their products.

Elik-tronics supplies Applied Materials with semiconductor integrated circuits and tools for testing silicon wafers designs. As chip designs become progressively smaller with higher aspect ratios and are packed more densely, this places high demands on both the robustness of the materials used in the etched patterns and the integrity of the metallized interconnects. The slightest deviation in the pattern can make a device unreliable or non-functional. Elik-tronics supports Applied Materials in its quest for optimilization of materials and reduction of stress and variability, to produce exceptionally precise patterning.

Patterning is one of the most critical of semiconductor production operations, and directly affects productivity of the customer’s device. It is the engineer’s job to maintain accurate, repeatable and uniform control over dimensions in etching a gate, a transistor isolation trench, a high aspect ratio contact, or interconnects between aluminum or dielectric film.

Elik-tronics principally supports Applied Materials’ PDC division (Process Diagnostics & Control), which is located in Israel.

Applied Materials is one of Fortune’s most admired companies (2018). Its annual turnover is $17 billion. Its market value has some fluctuation between $24 and 45 billion.

Applied Materials has won a number of other important awards, such as for most sustainable company and company that is the best to work at.

Its headquarters are in Silicon Valley in California, USA, but its 21,000 employees also work in service and innovation centers in 17 countries, in Canada, China, European countries, India, Israel, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia, Taiwan and the United States. For example in the US, several locations take care of manufacturing, research and development, sales service, and have a technology center in California.

Elik-tronics provides personnel, consulting and designs, especially in the field of semiconductors, for Applied Materials in Israel, but also at customer sites abroad, for example in the Far East.

Applied Materials’ presence in Israel has been long established. In 1996 it took over two Israeli companies: Opal and Robot Instrumentation.
